We drew our inspiration

from the wonderful 19th century oil paintings of Highland Cattle,

which portray the breed‘s variety of type and colours

Today, our colourful herd is the symbol

of the Augustenhof Fold,

and represents it in advertisements.

In 1988 we established our fold with animals chosen to pass on the variety.

Our first stock-bull was the black

UILLEAM Dubh of Barnaigh,

imported from Scotland.

The dun-coloured MAILA 13th of Woodneuk,

also a scottish import,

is the foundation cow of our fold.

She and Uilleam were a lucky pair with regards to breed success.

Their combination ensured the continuation of attributes

like type, conformation and wonderful temperament, ... and a colourful variety.

Some years later, when breeding with

LACHLAN Geal von Oberberg we were very fortunate to breed some outstanding white calves.

Later on, we bred with the yellow 2001 Champion

ANGUS 2nd vom Lehstener Moor ( left )

and the white bull LEWI vom Weidenbusch ( right ),

who sired LUMBERJACK Ruadh vom Augustenhof  ( below )

As his name suggests, he is a bull of great scale and muscle,

which worked to his significant advantage,

when he won the German Federal Show 2005.

On occasion, carefully selected homebred bulls,

like LUMBERJACK, LAGAVULIN, UILLEAM and MATTHEW vom Augustenhof

were used in our own fold with great success.

An increase in the overall size of our cattle

was achieved through the use of the partbred Canadian bull  DUO MEGAM vom Anderless.
